- Course objectives
- The subject "Compulsory practice I" opens a three-part cycle of subjects, by completing which students should become more familiar with the professional field of field archeology as a whole. The basic moments in the field professional sphere are: 1. archaeological supervision over excavation works (preventive, ongoing) and its documentation (written, drawing, photographic) – 2. archaeological field survey (pedestrian, instrumented, remote) with additional sounding and its documentation - 3. archaeological research – excavation (preparation, sounding research, surface excavation) and its documentation, treatment of finds and samples - provisional conservation and storage, final preparation of find reports - 4. Collection treatment of finds (collection conservation, storage (deposition) of finds in collections and their records). Each listener should be within the practice as a cycle to become familiar with the form and realization of these basic phenomena.
- Learning outcomes
- The subject "compulsory practice I" as an introduction should primarily provide the audience with an overview of the professional field of field archeology as a whole, i.e. in all four points mentioned above. If possible, he should focus especially on the issue of supervision and field survey. The place and time of practice will be determined for individual students by the head of the Institute of Archeology at the proposal of the subject guarantor. If possible, the listener's own preferences (e.g. place of residence) should also be taken into account. About the progress practice, the student will keep a diary, the mentor and supervisor will prepare a short description of his participation in the practice. To this documents will be taken into account during the final interview with the student under the guidance of the subject guarantor with the participation of others persons (usually the participation of a mentor and a supervisor is assumed). The decision to grant or not to grant credit belongs to the guarantor subject.
