Course objectives
The course provides students with a basic orientation in the field of Czech as a foreign language. The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the description of the levels of Czech language, with the major departments dealing with Czech for foreigners and with the most commonly used textbooks. Students will gain an understanding of the sociocultural aspect of teaching as well as the presentation of phonetics, grammar and vocabulary in Czech for foreigners. Students will get a practical introduction to the teaching of individual speech skills as well as language diagnostics and testing. Students will prepare a lesson plan in Czech for foreigners and create their own teaching material.
Learning outcomes
Basic overview of Czech as a foreign language, ability to compare teaching Czech as a foreign language with teaching Czech as a mother tongue, orientation in the basic literature on the subject and in the most used textbooks. Ability to create a lesson plan and own teaching material.

Departments and organisations specialising in Czech for foreigners 4. The influence of the mother tongue in Czech for foreigners, the question of the mediating language 5. Sociocultural aspect 6. Phonetics in Czech for foreigners 7. Grammar in Czech for foreigners I (verbs) 8. Grammar in Czech for foreigners II (nouns) 9. Vocabulary in Czech for foreigners 10. Speaking skills 11. Language diagnostics and testing 12. Textbooks and other teaching materials, use of modern technologies 13. Practical preparation of lessons and teaching material
