Course objectives
The course provides students with a comprehensive historical development of areas related to bibliographic communication of information. Introduces related scientific disciplines and terminological requirements. The main task will be to work with programs and projects in the field of processing national bibliographies. Mastery and orientation in the systems of national bibliographies of European countries, including a reference to the processes of bibliographic communication in the USA. Exercises follow the content of lectures.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- identify basic elements of bibliographic communication;
- identify and specify bibliographic data in library systems;
- search for and process information in current bibliographic information sources;
- use bibliographic metadata files for further processing of information in library systems.

  • Practical work with bibliographic databases - national bibliography in an international context, bibliographic information systems of professional information, specifics of bibliographic description of new media (websites, blogs, etc.).
