- Course objectives
- Lectures follow the previous subject of Organization of public libraries, community-based 1 and are focused to the community projects issue and to the role of public libraries: to organize access to information, to provide chance of life-long education, to offer an access to information technologies and reduce level of information illiteracy as well as to protect cultural identity. Due to gradual world globalisation it is necessary for ethnics of various parts of Europe not to disappear and lose the identity. Therefore is important collaboration of public libraries with other cultural institutions on local or regional level and close connections to the bussiness and entrepreneurship communities of the regionu. The public library should become a "sitting-room" of local community and should open its spaces to everybody. Public libraries have strong information backgroud, which might be used for conception structure of life-long education. Community public libraries offer pleasant and comfortable environs, knowledge of place and people, finantial, local and time availability, co-operation with the local institutions and are ready to help and contribute. By means of their community extension they support optimum patriotisms. They profund relationship to the locality, develop habits and traditions and contribute to various celebrations and local ceremonies. They integrate all the groups of population, namely such who are handicapped or menaced by social segregation. Each library acts in different backgroud, among various people and with different problems and needs. Students should be able to identify those problems as well as the needs and to know how to solve them and implement into the library activities. Seminary Students will understand the needs and community resources, so that would be able to use the libraries for building up the information point of the local community. The seminary is focused to the analysis of public librarianship in connection with output of community projects. Further it is focused to analysis of legislation and management of public libraries of community type. During the seminary students will work in temas and are requested to elaborate a community project.

Information on the extent and intensity of the course: Přednáška 6 HOD/SEM. - Teacher's information
- The subject is available by means of lectures and seminary. Student is supposed to master basic terminology and facts commented during lectures and recommended for studying from the scholarly literature. Requirements for examination: knowledge of matter in the frame of lectures and themes recommended for self-study of the scholarly literature. Successfull presentation of the own community project. Minimum 75 % attendance, active seminary collaboration.To approve understanding and activity in the theme of subject, to be able to disscuss and apply the enlisted knowledge.
