Course objectives
Students will learn the basic principles and methods of mathematical analysis to the extent required for the study of applied physics. Emphasis is placed on developing computational skills, problem solving and practical application. The electronic support materials are presented in IS.
Syllabus
  • Real numbers. Sets.
    Sequence of real numbers. Properties of limits.
    Function of one real variable.
    Elementary function.
    Limit of a function.
    Continuity of a function.
    Derivative of a function.
    Approximation of differentiable functions by polynomials.
    Applications of the derivative.
    Antiderivative of a function. Indefinite integral. Substitution rule. Integration by parts.
    Riemann integral and some of its properties.
    Applications of integrals.
