- Course objectives
- The use of historical terms, such as Truth, freedom, language or communication are an important issue for each historian. Often this importance is forgotten, eventhough it belongs among the most interesting aspects of historiography. Historical terms do not only reflect the individual aproach of each and every historian, but depict also the intelectual tendencies of their time. Sometiemes, they are so overloaded with layers of different significants, that they can't barely be used without limitation. The main goal of the seminar is to unveil the semantic layers of a few chosen terms and analyse the differencies in their use. An special emphasis will be laid on their misuse by the differnt ideologies inn the 20th century.
