Course objectives
The seminar will focus on the practical orientation of students in different challenging model of historical situations, preferably in the field. It is based on the premise that adequate conservation of values ??and interpretation of any subject or object is only possible on the basis of identification particular conditions to which it is not only necessary theoretical background ( archival and literature search ) , but just as much capacity building and development of historical analysis , which is be adequately interpreted. Only in unison or at least correct logical interpretation of information that keeps every single object or a subject in itself, with a reasonable interpretation of all direct and indirect findings of other kinds of activities historical, archival, art history, nature, technology , etc. , can reach a comprehensive evaluation object or subject. This assessment is a prerequisite correct and appropriate form of intervention heritage. Therefore, the seminar uses monumental wealth of Opava and its surroundings so that the audience after the introduction to the classroom in a professional, appropriate management discussion practiced ability to interpret in the field.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction to the interpretation of the material relics of historical buildings. Overview of basic methodologies, placed in a broader framework of a comprehensive conservation.
    2. Interpretation of the sacred nature of a specific object , a simpler form, but bringing together not only the architectural essence and traces of its evolutionary changes , but also functional shift , art ( painting and sculpture ) decorations, arts and crafts , etc. (chapel or parish or smaller branch church ).
    3. Interpretation of complex solitary sacral, richly furnished and decorated object (such as a parish church or church as an isolated remnant of the original monastic complex whole).
    4. Interpretation of large and demanding sacred object, richly furnished and decorated in a number of stages of its development, filling a complex conglomerate of functions and meanings (eg Concathedral Virgin Mary in Opava ) .
    5. Interpretation of large, usually monastery, a resort featuring elaborately equipped as sacred objects with complex development and associated convent buildings and grounds.
    6. Interpretation of a typical town house with layered architectural developments and the remnants of the various stages of interior and exterior decoration.

* Attending the seminar, sufficient and adequate data interpretation activity in the field, faced with the knowledge of basic literature. In addition, prepare a written analysis and interpretation of a particular object selected.
