- Course objectives
- Understanding the specificity of the Old Czech literature. Basic overview of the history of the Old Czech literature. Interpretation of key texts.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will be familiar with multilingual contexts of the Old Czech literature. Another learning aims:
They will be able to describe the chronological order of Old Czech literature; they will know genre system of Old Czech literature; they will able to to characterize the canonical literary works written in Old Church Slavonic, Latin, German and Czech, characterise both older literary eras, styles or poetic traditions and the representative literary works; and last but not least they should be able to summarize the chief differences between modern and pre-modern (Old Czech) literature. - Syllabus
- The chief differences of the Old Czech literature; the period and the literature.
- Multilingual contexts of the Old Czech literature.
- Originally or imitatively nature of literature. Major genres.
- Literary origins in Old Czech language.
- Czech literature in the 14th and 15th centuries.
