Course objectives
The aim of teaching The course is to introduce students to the basic principles of creating and applying information policy in advanced western democracies and in the Czech Republic. To get acquainted with the information policy of the European Union and a basic overview of the legislative framework of the Czech state information policy and its foreign equivalents. Furthermore, to point out the national policy of supporting science and research. Introduce library and information associations, their role in shaping information policy and the issue of lobbying. Outline - blocks 1. Explanation of the terms policy, information, information policy 2. Information - definition, possibility to measure quantity 3. Entropy, relationship of entropy - information 4. Types of information policies 5. EU information policy, eEurope program 6. Principles of creating national information policy 7. National information policy of the Czech Republic, eCzech Republic program 8. Free access to information 9. Public administration and free access to information 10. Privacy Protection 11.
