- Course objectives
- The one-semester cycle of lectures aims to introduce the history of Silesia to the Jagiellonian period (ie the years 1490-1526). Attention will be focused on the focal points of the then political events associated with the Czech-Hungarian competition for the constitutional affiliation of the so-called secondary countries of the Czech Crown, the completion of Silesian identity and Silesian administrative institutions, the penetration of foreign dynasties into Silesia and the final phase of the state model. The core of the interpretation will be the dynastic policy of the Jagiellonians and the mythical order of Sigismund of Jagiellonia by the next generations. With regard to further historical development, the Opava-Krnov area will also be taken into account in the interpretation.
