Course objectives
The one-semester cycle of lectures is devoted to the everyday life of the aristocratic strata of the Czech lands (especially Bohemia and Moravia, but also Silesia if possible) in the Middle Ages and early modern times. Due to the considerable thematic and temporal scope, the lectures are tuned more generally and focused on selected topics representing (but of course not in full) individual sections of the world and the life of nobility. Emphasis is also placed on the presentation of current research approaches and trends. In the seminar part of the course, students are introduced to the basic types and areas of sources and the form of their availability to the research community.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will gain specific knowledge in the field of medieval and early modern social and cultural history. They will learn the principles of criticism of sources associated with the analysis of everyday life and lifestyle of nobility. They will learn to create presentations in PowerPoint or equivalent applications.
