- Course objectives
- In a one-semester lecture series connected with the exercise, the student is acquainted with the development of the field, the main problems and methodological approaches in contemporary historiography. Attention is paid to the techniques of research work, collection and sorting of material, work with catalogs, bibliographies, encyclopedias. The student gets acquainted with Czech and foreign historical journals and historical institutions - scientific institutes, archives, museums, libraries. In the theoretical part, the student is also acquainted with the science of sources, criticism and interpretation of sources and methods of historical work.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student will acquire a basic overview of the development of the field, get acquainted with technical terminology, current issues and methodological approaches in contemporary historiography. They will learn the basic principles of the work technique of historians - they will learn to search for information in libraries and archives, respectively in other memory institutions (heuristics). They will get acquainted with the science of sources, criticism and interpretation of sources and with methods of historical work. He will be able to design his own research and write a seminar or qualification thesis.
