- Course objectives
- The lecture focuses on the phenomenon of sport as part of modern social history. It emphasizes its history since the end of the 18th century, when it was created in England by codifying the rules of traditional games and entertainment. In general, its task is to enable the understanding of sport as an important social phenomenon. Students will gain an overview of current methodological approaches to the historiography of the history of sport. The phenomenon will be presented in the context of modernization processes of the 19th century and globalization of the 20th and 21st centuries.
- Learning outcomes
- The student will be acquainted with the main development tendencies and facts from the modern history of sport.
