Course objectives
The course presents the issue of cultural heritage in relation to the current Czech Republic. It also provides initial competencies for the perception of cultural heritage, its comparison and appreciation in the European and global framework, for its perception in relation to the concepts of local - regional - national cultural heritage. Against the background of the general framework of cultural and historical development, it recapitulates knowledge in relation to the concepts of culture and cultural heritage, deepens the ability to distinguish and compare cultural values from different historical periods and different artistic-historical styles. It presents selected cultural heritage in Bohemia, Moravia and Bohemian Silesia in terms of its typology and chronological development, paying attention to the material monuments of UNESCO in the Czech Republic.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to: define the basic fund of cultural monuments in the Czech Republic; will know the history of the monument kiln and the legal basis of its operation; will know the conditions and procedures for registration of monuments in the register of monuments; will be aware of the instability of the situation - the constant conflict between the official (official) understanding of the protection of monuments, the sphere of scientific reflection related to it and social expectations or customs.

  • 3. Cultural monuments of the Czech Renaissance.
  • 4. Cultural monuments of Czech Baroque and Rococo.
  • 5. - 6. Monuments of Czech culture of the 19th and 20th centuries.
  • 7. Legal and institutional framework of cultural heritage protection in the Czech Republic, classification of cultural monuments in the Czech Republic.
  • 8. System and principles of monument care in the Czech Republic; financing the protection of cultural heritage.
  • 9. - 10. Local and regional cultural heritage.
  • 11. National cultural / cultural monuments; urban / rural conservation areas and zones.
  • 12. International protection of cultural heritage, UNESCO, ICOMOS.
  • 13. UNESCO monuments in the Czech Republic - presentation, cultural and historical context.
