Course objectives
The course is designed for students of third year bachelor degree in Astrophysics. Obtained skills: How to popularize astronomy and science? and How to prepare speeches for public? Graduates can apply this skills not only in their future professional life, but also in defense of his thesis.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to: - write a press release - write an original longer popularization text - prepare and give a popularization lecture - prepare and realize an appearance on radio and TV
Syllabus
  • 1. Fundamentals of rhetoric, development of linguistic literacy.
    2. Technology: PC, data projector, planetarium, programming of programs.
    3. Create an electronic presentation: Power Point, Front Page.
    4. Popularization article for daily press.
    5. Professional article in electronic media and classical periodicals.
    6. Popularization lecture.
    7. Audiovisual program: lecture hall, planetarium, "dataphone" as simplest AV program.
    8. Speakers in the media: radio, TV, providing undistorted information to the media.
    9. Demonstration activity at the observatory (WHOO!).
    10. How to avoid plagiarism.
