Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is also offered to the students of the fields other than those the course is directly associated with.
fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
Course objectives
The aim of the course is to apply the acquired environmental knowledge and knowledge of measuring physical and chemical quantities into practical in-situ environmental monitoring and assessment.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will acquire practical skills and knowledge of measuring and monitoring selected environmental quality indicators. The student will be able to:
- perform environmental measurements in the field and in the laboratory using available measuring devices and tools;
- perform calibration of measuring instruments;
- describe the measurement methods and explain the measurement principles and techniques;
- compare measured values with legislative standards;
- interpret measured data;
- prepare a report from the field measurement containing the characteristics of the selected location, the measurement procedure, methods used in the collection and analysis of environmental samples, processing of measurement results and evaluation of the measured data.
Syllabus
  • The course is placed at the end of the bachelor's study programme, so that the students can put all the acquired theoretical knowledge and skills into practice. Field training is focused on monitoring of human impacts on the environment under the guidance of the lecturer.
  • Students may choose one of the following areas of specialization:
  • 1) air quality monitoring (measurement of meteorological parameters, measurement of air pollutant concentrations) - Doc. Ing. Miloš Zapletal, Dr.,
  • 2) water quality monitoring (measurement of physical and chemical water quality indicators) - RNDr. Ing. Andrea Kotrlová, Ph.D.,
  • 3) noise measurement, monitoring of humidity, lighting, non-ionizing radiation - Ing. Miroslav Vala, CSc.
