Course objectives
This course provides theoretical and practical preparation for laboratory experiments and focuses on basic laboratory skills and techniques of experimental data analysis.
Learning outcomes
A graduate is able to evaluate experimental data and write a lab report.
Syllabus
  • Physical quantities and units. The International System of Units SI.
    Physical measurements, its phases and methods.
    ČSN, EN, ISO norms. Legal Metrology Act.
    Uncertainties of measurement. Type A and type B evaluation of uncertainty.
    Measurements in the laboratory. Organization of work and safety regulations.
    Measurement protocol.
    Guidelines for the presentation of experimental results.
    Interpolation, extrapolation. Statistical tests.
    Measurement of basic physical quantities.
    Methods of measurement of electrical quantities.
    Properties of analog and digital measuring instruments.
