Course objectives
The course aims to equip students with systematic skills in strategic management, early detection, and prevention of modern forms of risk behavior, alongside institutional security management. Students will learn how to identify toxicological and behavioral risks, conduct a basic security assessment of a facility, implement minimum security standards, design multi-agency crisis protocols, and coordinate effectively with law enforcement and social services.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to: Analyze modern toxicological & behavioral risks: Understand new synthetic drugs, vaping, kratom, severe social withdrawal (Hikikomori), and the dynamics of destructive online communities. Conduct a basic security assessment: Identify physical and operational vulnerabilities within an educational or social facility (practical operational assessment rather than a formal audit). Implement minimum security standards: Define and establish access control and internal communication protocols to prevent unauthorized intrusions or internal violence. Select age-appropriate screening tools: Correctly apply screening metrics (PHQ-9, GAD-7, PHQ-A) for early detection of depression and self-harm. Design institutional safety protocols: Formulate multi-agency prevention strategies and crisis response protocols.
Syllabus
1. Block: Security Assessment and Minimum Security Standards Methodology of a basic institutional security assessment: Identifying vulnerabilities in infrastructure and operational rules. Minimum security standard: Access control, warning systems, and internal communication. Systemic prevention of security incidents (from unauthorized entry to preventing targeted violence).
2. Block: Modern Toxicological Trends in Youth New synthetic drugs (NPS); alternative forms of THC consumption (vaping, edibles). Misuse of nicotine pouches, kratom, and psychomodulatory substances. Clinical and social impact of substance abuse on institutional security.
3. Block: Behavioral Pathologies, Screening, and Crisis Management Severe social withdrawal (Hikikomori), digital addictions, and online radicalization. Applied screening tools: PHQ-9, GAD-7, PHQ-A (age demarcation in non-medical practice). Designing institutional crisis protocols and coordinating multi-agency actions.
