- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to familiarize with the topics of general psychopathology as well as special psychopathology. The helper should have a basic understanding of the syndromes and symptoms of mental disorders as well as the existing classification system of these disorders. This enables the helper to direct the client who presents to the helper's practice to the appropriate form of help, and to enter competently into interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Learning outcomes
- Professional knowledge: the student can define the basic categories of general psychopathology, can classify mental disorders into homogeneous nosological units, and can interpret these on a theoretical level.
Professional skills: on the basis of observable manifestations, the student can determine whether or not a mental disorder is present in a model individual, can frame the type of disorder, can frame the approach to mental disorder carriers.
Professional competences: knows the basic types of help offered to carriers of mental disorders, can seek out and inform a specialist (psychologist, psychiatrist, therapist) about the manifestations of a carrier of a mental disorder, can also identify his/her role in the process of help. - Syllabus
