Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide the student with a space to become familiar with the specific issues of preparation and implementation of practical educational activities of working with seniors in the facility in an attempt to map the needs and interests of clients through observation. To connect theoretical knowledge with the ability to solve practical problems with the target group of seniors. The purpose of the subject is to orient oneself in the organizational structure and functioning of the given facility, to search for sources of cooperation in the wider field of professional practice, to identify the needs of clients, their living conditions, etc. and in this context be able to create the conditions for the educational activity of clients together with the subsequent realization of the educational activity.
Learning outcomes
Subject knowledge: The student will acquire knowledge of working with seniors in the facility, the student will learn the basics of working with a target group with a focus on educational activities based on the hospital activity.
Professional skills: The student can use theoretical knowledge in practice, can design and implement educational activities for seniors under the professional supervision of an employee in the facility.
General skills: The student can independently evaluate the effectiveness of educational activities for seniors and use theoretical knowledge in practice.
Syllabus
The professional practice will be carried out on an ongoing basis (for part-time students according to their time availability and the possibilities of the facility, it may also be organised in blocks), with a total of 104 hours per semester in a selected facility. The practice will take place over 13 weeks, 8 hours per week in the facility. During the practice, the student will obtain information concerning the mission of the institution, its history, the composition of the client group, organisational structure, staffing, links to other facilities and the local community, relevant legislation, and other aspects. Key information will be considered that which relates to the student’s professional activities directly connected to educational activities with clients. During the practice, the student will complete six days of observation activities including educational activities and six own educational sessions according to the respective group of seniors. Educational sessions will be consulted with the relevant facility staff member (supervisor) and subsequently implemented under their professional guidance. The student’s own outputs will be part of the practice diary in the structure defined by the relevant document. Observation activities and own outputs will be documented in the practice diary in the prescribed structure. The student will prepare a practice diary based on the professional placement. The structure of the diary is set by the course lecturer. Educational sessions will be prepared according to the prescribed methodological structure. A necessary condition is the implementation of the required number of sessions. The practice diary will also include the student’s evaluation of the practice and the evaluation of the student’s performance by the respective facility.

Teacher's information
The student prepares a practice diary from professional practice. The structure of the diary is given by the teaching pedagogue. Credit will be awarded for fulfilling the conditions of practice specified in a special document, active participation in the seminar, positive evaluation of the practice and prepared practice diary in the specified scope, structure and quality. The student will be able to continuously consult the progress of the internship through e-mail, individual or group consultations.
