Course objectives
The essence of the course is to obtain theoretical and practical information about the possibility of using music therapy activities, specifically holistic music therapy in practice. The subject is conducted in the experiential form of a workshop, theory is interwoven with the practical part. The theoretical area focuses on the basic starting points, possibilities, directions of music therapy, the effect of music on a person, the characteristics of a specific music therapy direction - Holistic music therapy, its effect on the human organism, forms, used tools, principles, principles. Introducing instruments specific to holistic music therapy. The practical part focuses on one's own experience - introduction to instruments of natural tuning, creation of rhythm, practical use of instruments within the active form of music therapy and music therapy orchestra, and completion of the receptive form of music therapy.
Learning outcomes
Expertise:
- the student is able to define and theoretically define the concept of music therapy
- the student is able to characterize the holistic music therapy approach
- the student knows the basic rules and principles and forms of music therapy
- the student is able to specify the influence of the voice on the human organism
- the student orients himself in interpersonal communication within the framework of music therapy
Professional skills:
- the student manages the basic beats on the djembe
- the student manages the basic creation of rhythm
- the student can play percussion instruments
General qualifications:
- the student can assess and appropriately adapt the space for the music therapy circle
- the student can assess the appropriateness of the form of music therapy activity for a specific group
- the student can evaluate the suitability of individual instruments and their use in the music therapy circle according to the individual needs of the individual

  • 7. Forms of holistic music therapy – individual, group, active, receptive
  • 8. Active form of holistic music therapy – principles, principles, room preparation
  • 9. Receptive form of holistic music therapy – principles, principles, room preparation
  • 10. The influence of the human voice on the organism, the voice, the use of the voice in music therapy

A condition for registering for credit is written processing and the creation of an active and receptive form of holistic music therapy for a person/group of people with mental disabilities. Fulfillment of continuously assigned tasks.

Teacher's information
In course of continuous study, students use the study material, processing it to fulfil selected correspondence assignments which will be discussed in conclusion of the course. At the exam, students demonstrate knowledge of compulsory literature and lectures of the in-person instruction. Students will be able to continuously consult the topics studied individually or in teams, via e-mail, or in consultations upon request.
