Course objectives
The course focuses on consolidating the acquired skills and deepening the knowledge acquired in the course Holistic Music Therapy 1. The course is conducted in an experiential form, theory is interwoven with the practical part. The theoretical content deals with the position of music therapy in the fields of pedagogy, special pedagogy, psychotherapy and comprehensive rehabilitation. It specifies in more detail the relationship between music therapy and psychotherapy, current music therapy trends known and used in our country. It presents the possibilities of using music therapy in education, both for children, pupils and students with special educational needs, as well as for intact individuals. The practical part focuses on one's own experience of vibrations, preparation for a music therapy activity for a specific target group, written processing of the preparation of an educational block using musical instruments and their subsequent implementation.
Learning outcomes
Expertise:
- the student orients himself in current music therapy trends
- the student is able to specify the features of music therapy approaches
- the student is aware of the possibilities of using music therapy activities in the education and training of children, pupils and students
- the student is able to describe the personal prerequisites for the work of a music therapist
- the student is able to specify which areas of an individual's personality are affected by playing untempered instruments and listening to them
- the student knows the structure of the music therapy block
Professional skills:
- the student can play percussive instruments, bowls, slot drums, djembe basics
- the student is able to create rhythms, connect them to each other with percussion instruments
- the student is able to prepare a room, suitable tools for a specific group
- the student is able to actively and purposefully use the tools, principles and elements of an active and receptive form of music therapy
General qualifications:
- the student can assess the use of musical instruments and forms of music therapy according to the individual needs of the individual in a specific situation
- the student is able to process the structure of the methodology of the music therapy block according to the plan and then implement it
- the student is able to prepare and lead a drum circle and a music therapy orchestra
- the student is capable of improvisation as part of playing together

A condition for registering for credit is written processing and the creation of an active and receptive form of holistic music therapy for a person/group of people with mental disabilities. Fulfillment of continuously assigned tasks.

Teacher's information
In course of continuous study, students use the study material, processing it to fulfil selected correspondence assignments which will be discussed in conclusion of the course. At the exam, students demonstrate knowledge of compulsory literature and lectures of the in-person instruction. Students will be able to continuously consult the topics studied individually or in teams, via e-mail, or in consultations upon request.
