Course objectives
The course is directly based on information from the subject of Social Pathology I, it introduces a wider range of topics about other socio-pathological problems with the defining of the specific display of socio-pathological phenomena. Emphasis is put on the causes, dynamics and consequences from the point of their negative impacts on society and individuals. In this course, students receive information on the practical functioning of governmental and nongovernmental organizations, which professionally solve socio-pathological problems.The interdisciplinary nature of teaching and learning is maintained. The main purpose of the seminar, which immediately follows the lecture, is to identify issues of social pathology in the practice and the ability to work independently with literature and information in general, especially in processing the seminar work on selected issues and their presentation in the seminar.

  • The topics of lectures and seminars:
    The failures of family functions, the typologies of dysfunctional families.
    The CAN syndrome and its prevention.
    Non-alcoholic and alcoholic drugs, psychopathological additions as a social problem.
    Prevention and treatment.
    Bullying and cyber bullying; the possibilities of the prevention of risky behaviour related to information technology.
    Criminality and vandalism.
    Violence at the workplace. Mobbing, bossing and prevention.
    Involuntary and child prostitution, sexual deviation and aggression.
    Extremism, racism and prevention possibilities. The problems of the groups with secretarial features.
    Unemployment and homelessness in our society.
    The strategy of prevention of socio-pathological phenomena.

Teacher's information
Active participation on the seminars, max. 2 excused absences.
The ability to work with an expert text (articles, primary literature) and secondary literature (textbooks). The ability to think critically, to discuss willingly.
Seminary:
- an in-person presentation on a chosen issue from a monograph or a magazine,
- a test on the topics discussed in the seminars - min. 75 % success.
Performing of tasks in seminars is a necessary condition for being allowed to participate in the examination.
There is a written credit test and an oral exam.
