- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to understand the basic terms and concepts from the theory of communication. Based on the strategy of social conduct and knowledge of interpersonal communication. Attention is also paid to the actual communication skills and conflict prevention, and aggression in interpersonal relationships. At the same time is the emphasis placed on the use of the techniques of active listening and empathy in the management consultancy interview. The aim is to develop a theoretical framework for the practical use of communication strategies in social communication. An integral part of the course are practical seminars.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student will be able to: - use to summarize basic terms and concepts from the field of communication theory; - apply specific communication procedures; - use communication skills in conversation; - prevent communication conflicts through communication strategies; - use active listening techniques; - apply the principles of the counselling interview;

- 1. Personality requirements and professional competences of a worker in helping professions.
- 2. Specifics of communication in helping professions.
- 3. Introduction to communication, concepts, content and relational level of communication.
- 4. Communication process, structure, obstacles, recommendations.
- 5. Non-verbal communication, components, voice hygiene, recommendations.
- 6. Verbal communication, meaning, content of speech. Questions - types. Recommendations for optimizing verbal communication.
- 7. Non-verbal communication. The body language. Image.
- 8. Active listening, techniques.
- 9. Empathy. The emotional intelligence.
- 10. Counseling interview, phases, recommendations.
- 11. Approaches for difficult types of clients.
- 12. Conflict, assertive behavior, recommendations.
