Course objectives
The seminar will create an environment for the confrontation of theoretical knowledge with practical experience under the supervision of an instructor who will explain and correct any imbalance in this relationship. The seminar aims to reinforce knowledge and practical experience acquired through previous studies and to further develop the required skills, such as analytical processing of information, teamwork, planning of methodological proceedings, etc. The seminar is concluded in a reflection of the process of working with a client, which took place in the context of professional internship. Study Outcomes: Professional Knowledge: Students will acquire extended knowledge of the objectives and tasks of public administration and especially in social work under various institutions. Professional Skills: Students can navigate in the selected areas of public administration and social services, and understand the issues in relation to the various theoretical concepts. General Qualification: They understand the knowledge acquired during their lessons and can apply them in further studies and in professional practice. Competences: Students build on and develop the knowledge and skills necessary for the performance of the work of an administrative officer and social worker. Student can uphold conversations, carry out diagnosing, plan, administer and implement direct work with the client.
Syllabus
  • 1. First contact with the client, conducting interviews.
    2. Basic record-keeping, social case history.
    3. Diagnostics. Change planning.
    4. Intervention.
    5. Methodological procedures - practical application of theories of public administration.
    6. Methodological procedures - practical application of theories of social work.
    7. Completion of work with clients.
    8. Teamwork.
    9. Case management
    10. The issue of supervision in the workplace.
    11. Reflection on the process of working with the client.
    12. Role of an officer and social worker.
    13. Final evaluation of the seminar and the professional internship.
