Course objectives
The aim of Professional Practice is to acquaint students with fundamentals, principles and organization of work in a particular establishment (school club, drop facilities for children and youth, Children and Youth Centre and Leisure Centre, Children's home, FOD like organization) where students provide leisure activities and apply in practice the knowledge gained from the leadership group, educational goals settings, selecting and implementing teaching methods and forms of work with children and youth, with regard to educational and psychological development patterns of children and youth. Professional Practice I will provide students space for familiarization with the specific problems of practice in the facility and its organization. Student learns to apply educational principles, methods and methodologies for working with target groups in the implementation of leisure activities, to respond to current needs or problem situations. Student will be actively involved in educational activity areas in the facility and become familiar with the educational and training program that takes place in the facility. The student will be able to implement his/her own activity proposals for the target group and will participate in meetings with legal representatives of children (with their consent) in the facility, etc., and to assist with the educational activities. The purpose is to prepare student to be able to prepare and implement leisure program independently and evaluate it afterwards, or implement teaching and tutoring activities.
Syllabus
  • SEMINAR
    Professional Practice consists of the practical training and seminar. In the seminar, students will be able to reflect on their experience from the facilities. It will include mentoring students in preparation for working directly with clients. The seminar will take place in the group under the supervision of the qualified practice guarantor.
    The seminarill be focused on extending the theoretical knowledge and practical experience, particularly in the field of prevention of socially pathological phenomena in various types of facilities. The seminar will be used to analyze non-standard situations and finding a suitable procedure for their solution. Content of the seminar will correspond to the results of students in practice each week and in individual facilities.
    1. Introduction to the practice.
    2. Characteristics of the facilities and how they compare in terms of job descriptions and target groups.
    3. Methodology gaming activities and activities within the practice.
    4. Possibilities of prevention of socially pathological phenomena in various types of facilities.
    5. Continuous preparation of the activities within the practice (time allocation, structure and content of training, work with the group ...)
    6. Possible solutions of non-standard situations.
    7. Analysis and evaluation of realized practices.
