Course objectives
The main aim of the course is to learn basic terms, funcitons and principles of the criminal law, to acquaint students with the general and special part of the criminal law, with the criminal procedural law, especially to understand basics of criminal responsibility, punishment and protective measures system, acquaint students with criminal proceedings including the specifics of the criminal proceedings in young offender. Students will be acquaint with the position of probation and mediation services and with the positions of victims in criminal proceedings.

  • 1. Term, function and basic principles of the criminal law
    2. Criminal responsibility, term and qualification of the crimes, facts of the crime, lack of criminality
    3. Developmental stages of the crime, incitement, plurality of crimes
    4. Punishments and protective measures
    5. Special part of Criminal Law individual facts of selected crimes
    6. Introduction to the criminal procedural law basic terms, sources, basic principles
    7. Subjects in the proceedings, stages of the proceedings
    8. Evidence, ensuring people and objects, decisions
    9. Remedies, special methods of the proceedings
    10. Diversion in criminal proceedings
    11. Enforcement proceedings
    12. Extinction of punishment, expunged conviction, limitation in criminal law
    13. Young offender criminal responsibility and legal entity criminal responsibility
    14. Probation and Mediation Service, position of the injured and a victim in the proceedings
