- Course objectives
- The course objective is to acquaint students with the area of interest education of the elderly and reflect on its importance for the development of both the individuals and the society. Interest education of the elderly is viewed in the context of lifelong learning, while special attention is paid to its practical application in educational leisure activities of the elderly. Existing and current situation in the educational market is described and various types of interest activities are characterised, with an overview of the major institutions that deal with it.
- Learning outcomes
- Professional knowledge: Students acquire knowledge about interest education of the elderly, can characterize the specifics of the elderly participants of education, describe the specifications of senior education, including the enumeration of methods and means of education.
Professional skills: Students can apply their knowledge in educational practice, design and prepare activities of interest education of the elderly.
General qualification: Students are able to use the knowledge and skills of interest education of seniors in the context of lifelong learning, they can apply gained knowledge in educational practice. - Syllabus

- 2. Didactic aspects of interest education of the elderly. Methods, forms and didactic means
- 3. Specifics of education of the elderly. Motivation for interest education of the elderly. Characteristics of teaching the elderly
- 4. Barriers to interest education of the elderly. Prejudices, stereotypes and myths. Possibilities and limits of education of the elderly. Educational opportunities
- 5. Historical context of interest education of the elderly. Current state of interest education of the elderly. Interest education of the elderly in the Czech Republic and abroad
- 6. Participants of interest education of seniors. Interests and needs of the elderly
- 7. Specifics of the elderly as participants in interest education. Bio-psycho-social-spiritual changes in the old age

- 9. Organizational provision of interest education. Legislative standards. Financing interest education of seniors. Educational institutions
