Course objectives
The course objective is to gain knowledge of ENT and phoniatrics related to organic changes in the human body. It focuses on disorders of hearing, speech and voice in children. Students learn the importance of cooperation between physicians and special educators in the process and in rectification of disrupted functions of the disabled individuals.
Learning outcomes
Professional Knowledge:
- students can describe the anatomy and development of the auditory organ
- students know the anatomy of articulation and respiratory systems, they are familiar with the basic classification of voice and speech disorders
- students can explain terminology of foniatry, ENT, audiology, audiograph
- students can perform re-education auditory exercises
Professional Skills:
- students can use expert terminology
General qualification:
- students are well versed in the terminology and use acquired knowledge in pedagogical practice
- students will be able to estimate the anatomical and physiological abnormality in special educational diagnostics
Syllabus
  • 1. Otorhinolaryngology, definition.
  • 2. Fundamentals of anatomy and physiology of the auditory system.
  • 3. Physiology and pathology of hearing.
  • 4. Introduction to acoustics. Audiology, its importance, audiograph.
  • 5. Anatomy of articulation and respiratory system.
  • 6. Physiology of hearing. Hearing and age, hearing and speech.
  • 7. Examination of hearing in children.
  • 8. Voice formation, basic terminology.
  • 9. Voice disorders in children and adults.
  • 10. Hearing disorders in children and adults.
  • 11. Speech disorders in children and adults.
  • 12. Revision of the curriculum.
