Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to selected contemporary rules of social intercourse in selected areas of social life. In addition, students will be introduced to international business and diplomatic protocol in international business and diplomatic practice.
Learning outcomes

Students will be able to define selected concepts related to etiquette and explain the social significance of prominent individuals. They will be able to apply the rules of interpersonal communication and define concepts related to dress code. Students will be able to compare different types of dress code, apply appropriate forms of dress according to the activity performed, and identify social mistakes in the clothing of both women and men. They will be able to distinguish between business and private travel and explain the differences in expected behaviour. Furthermore, students will be able to define holidays and leisure-time activities and propose appropriate ways of spending free time. They will be capable of evaluating the importance of observing social norms in different modes of travel and assessing their impact on the comfort and safety of travellers. Students will be able to explain the procedures involved in applying for employment and apply the principles of time management in planning work tasks and improving productivity. They will be able to evaluate the importance of team building and propose activities for specific team situations. In addition, students will be able to formulate rules of conduct for various social events, such as theatre performances, balls, and corporate events. They will understand the basic rules of dining etiquette and apply them at both formal and informal social occasions. Students will be capable of analysing situations in which social norms may be violated and proposing ways to prevent such situations. They will be able to define business negotiations and analyse the specific requirements for their preparation. Finally, students will be able to define concepts such as diplomacy and diplomatic relations, identify state authorities responsible for international relations, consular relations, and consulates, and provide practical examples of their functions and activities.

Syllabus
1. Introduction to the rules of social intercourse
Basic rules and concepts. Etiquette and its history. Personalities of Czech etiquette. Social significance of people. Social transgressions of people. Communication between people. Introductions, business cards and titles.
2. Social dress
Dress code, men's wear, women's wear.
3. Travel and Leisure
Business Travel. Private travel. Vacation and leisure. Sport. We travel by public transport. We ride a bike. We travel by train and bus. We travel by boat and plane. We ride by car and motorcycle.
4. In employment
We apply for employment. Conduct in employment. First time boss. Time-management. Collective.
5. Ethics of social events and in business
Basic principles of social behaviour when attending various social events ? Theatre, cinema, opening night, concerts, balls, dances, graduations, wedding receptions, corporate parties, banquets. Rules of dining.
6. Principles and specifics of business negotiations in selected countries
Business etiquette of dealing with foreign partners in selected countries. Preparation for business meetings, basic characteristics of cultures.
7. Social enterprises and opportunities
Types of social enterprises and opportunities. Organization of individual enterprises. Invitations.
8. Diplomatic relations and diplomatic protocol
Diplomacy and diplomatic relations. Organs of state for international relations. Diplomatic missions. Consular relations and consulates. Rules for other protocol actions and diplomatic correspondence.

Active participation in seminars min. 60% (10% evaluation), 2 ongoing tests (20% of the evaluation), seminar paper and its presentation (10% of the evaluation), oral examination (60 %).
