Course objectives
To illustrate essential notions and principles of probability theory and mathematical statistic by means of simple practical examples.
Syllabus
  • - combinatorics, probability in finite spaces, conditional probability, independence, Bernoulli's scheme, probability axioms
    - random variable, distribution function, discrete and continuous random variables, numerical characteristics
    - random vector, numerical characteristics of random vectors, independent random variables, functions of random variables
    - point and interval estimations, statistical treatment of measured data
    - statistical hypothesis testing
