Studies
- Objectives
The study program German for professional practice is a three-year bachelor's program implemented in full-time form. It is based on modern philology and is designed as a comprehensive study program with a practical focus.
The first goal of the program is to enable future graduates to master the practical language at B2 level and equip them with theoretical language knowledge. With an emphasis on practical starting points, individual language skills and grammatical and lexical knowledge are developed and strengthened, and at the same time a solid theoretical basis is created for a perfect understanding of the language system. Students will also gain a comprehensive overview of the literature, culture and realities of German-speaking countries.
At the same time, German for professional practice goes beyond the scope of education in the Philology program, in accordance with the needs of the labor market and with regard to better applicability on the labor market. The program is based on the current needs of the region and the labor market, requiring graduates who, in addition to language readiness, will also be prepared for work in the economic sphere in the broadest sense of the word. Substantial emphasis is therefore placed on professional subjects that prepare future graduates for professional employment and ensure the applicability of the acquired education (knowledge, skills, attitudes) in practice, which represents the second goal of the program. At the same time, graduates are provided with a quality foundation for subsequent master's studies.
The third goal of the program is to contribute to the development of the region through cooperation with private and public sector entities and to help fulfill the university's strategic goals in the priority area "3. Relations to the external environment”.
The program is created in cooperation with experts from practice, e.g. from the Municipality of the City of Opava, the Visitor Center of the MÚ Nový Jičín and the company OKIN (Ostrava). Experts from practice participated in the preparation of the contents of the subjects in the block Knowledge and skills for practice, and they will also teach the courses included in this block. The study plan also includes mandatory practice (among other things in the subjects mentioned above), which will achieve an even better connection between theoretical and practical knowledge.
