Course objectives
Students gain knowledge in the application of general knowledge of management theory (especially non-profit organizations) for specific conditions of museum.
Syllabus
  • 1. The definition of the concept of management and marketing.
    2. History of management - development of theories and models of management.
    3. Internal and external conditions for the operation of the museum.
    4. Management and the basic tasks of managers museums. Museum and founder. Financing museums. Creating a budget-funded organization.
    5. Organizational and operational rules of procedure of the museum.
    6. Management process in the museum - planning, organizing, selection and placement of employees, management and control.
    7. Management collecting activities.
    8. Marketing museums and museums relations with the public. Marketing research of museum audiences.
    9. Analysis of marketing. Development of financial resources. Commercial activities and services. Sponsorship.
    10. Strategic planning in the museum.
    11. Project management.
    12. Evaluation of the activities of the museum. Indicators. Standards.
