Course objectives
The course deals with world theatre history from the period of realism till the avant-garde era after World War I. It will show all major theatre events of the period, as well as the theatre reformers, innovators, visionaries and other authors, "celebrities" and their works, theatrical institutions, trends and generally accepted developmental benefits of the above mentioned. Another important thing will be to recognize the internal links of the symptoms - i. e. to understand the context. Further important literature to read will be recommended during the course and the lectures will be complemented by various demonstrations and students' presentations.
