Course objectives
The lecture will introduce selected types of media and their sources related to their functioning in the "long 19th century". The media are interpreted as forms of modern communication in a wide range from advanced pre-modern media (print), through the typical media of their time (panorama, live image) to promising media of modern history (telephone, photography, etc.). During the course, students will also get acquainted with illustrative examples of sources, on the example of which the specifics of their critique and interpretation will be explained.
Learning outcomes
Students will aquire knowledge of the basic facts and concepts of the history of communication and the media in the period between 1789-1914.
