Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to mediation as a method of social intervention. The sub-objectives are a theoretical grasp of mediation as a social practice in the resolution of interpersonal conflicts, including the historical and socio-cultural preconditions of its establishment in the second half of the 20th century, which shaped its basic principles. The second sub-objective is practical training in mediation skills and techniques. The building of mediator skills will be based on the so-called triangle of mediator influence, the peaks of which are techniques for working with content and information, techniques for working with emotions and relationships, and techniques for managing the process.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will understand the principles and values of mediation and will be able to distinguish mediation from other methods of conflict resolution. Students will be proficient in the basic range of mediation techniques.
