- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic concepts in the theory of communication, to reflect on the variables that affect communication. The student should know the main principles of the theory of communication. They will learn to distinguish the levels of communication, characterize verbal and nonverbal communication.
- Learning outcomes
- Study Outcomes: Professional Knowledge: Students are able to define basic concepts of communication theory. They can describe and explain the process of communication, including the effects that support or impede communication. They understand the basic models of communication. Professional Skills: The students can communicate properly in accordance with the current communication context. They can use the active listening technique. They can prepare a speech and its presentation. General Qualification: Students manage feedback control of their own communication and control the body language. They are able to pass the required information to the client in an appropriate, adequately intelligible manner. They can reflect on the variables of the communication process and appropriately change them to match the recipients communications.
- Syllabus
- 1. Basic terms - areas of communication, communication models, communication noise. Communication competence. 2. Modalities of communication context - physical, cultural, psychological. 3. Methods of communication. Content, experience and relational level of communication. 4. Means of communication. Communication barriers. 5. Nonverbal communication - facial expressions, haptics, proxemics, posturology, kinesics. 6. Nonverbal communication - paralinguistics, communication through subjects. 7. Verbal communication - perception, listening, verbal communication. 8. Speech preparation, presentation. 9. Communication models - game theory, system approach, neurolinguistic programming, assertiveness, communication types according to V. Satir, transaction analysis - E. Berne. 10. Basic rules of healthy communication. Effective communication. Functional and non-functional communication, communication habits. Acceptance and empathy. 11. Interpersonal communication disorders. Communication via the Internet. 12. Communication with the client. Types of interview, questions. 13. Communication with different types of clients (specifics).

- Students will master the curriculum in the required range. He / she will prepare a seminar paper on a given topic in which he / she will use theoretical knowledge and link it with practical experience.
Active participation in classes, completion of assigned tasks.
Written exam from basic and recommended literature, including lectures (minimum 75% for the evaluation of E).
