Course objectives
The aim of this course is to provide students with the necessary knowledge in a comprehensive way to enable their better orientation in a relatively complex area of Crisis Management (CRI) and enable them to apply their obtained knowledge in potential practice. The course presents relevant information about principles of Crisis Management and its role in enterprises and other organizations (like municipalities, etc.), stresses the importance of managing of crises procedures and crisis leadership within organizations both in Czech and international subjects worldwide. Also, the goal of the course is to put emphasis on systemic relations and consequences of procedures and methods used within crisis management in companies while pointing out the relations and consequences of risk management as well as to present the examples of successful crisis management, too.
Syllabus
  • 1.Crisis and risk. The essence and definition of the concepts of crisis and risk. Typology of risks. Risk management, its role and position in the management of the organization. Typology of crises. The importance and impact of the crisis on organizations. The crisis and its course.
    2.Early warning systems in crisis management. Early warning systems in crisis management and their importance. Ways of implementing early warning systems in organizations. Economic diagnostics of the crisis in the organization.
    3.Crisis management. The essence and importance of crisis management. The position and security of crisis management in organizations. Crisis management activities. The person and role of the crisis manager. Interim manager. Requirements for a crisis manager.
    4.Strategic crisis management. Strategic crisis management in the organization. Strategic crisis plans and scenarios. The importance of strategic crisis management for crisis management in the organization. Crisis strategies and their typology.
    5.Crisis communication in the organization. The importance and essence of crisis communication in the organization. Major problems of communication during the crisis in the organization. Possibilities of managing crisis communication in times of crisis in the organization.
    6.Crisis management in SMEs. Ensuring crisis management in small and medium-sized enterprises. Specifics of crisis management in small and medium enterprises. Specifics of international crisis management.
    7.Crisis management in public administration. Crisis situations resolved in public administration. Crisis management bodies in the Czech Republic. Methods and tools of crisis management in public administration.
